Ampotech and Keppel DHCS win ASEAN Energy Award for Smart Energy Management

Updated: Sep 16, 2022

A multi-year collaboration between Ampotech Pte Ltd and Keppel DHCS Pte Ltd to simplify the energy audit and efficiency estimation process for chiller plant systems has culminated in a 2022 ASEAN Energy Efficiency and Conservation Award.

The award-winning energy management system (EMS) brings together energy technology startup Ampotech’s artificial intelligence software and low-cost internet of things sensors along with the extensive operational experience of Keppel DHCS, as the first and largest district heating and cooling systems developer and service provider in Singapore. The EMS improves the performance and maintenance of chiller plants. Easy to install, the EMS will help reduce the deployment time and cost of implementing an EMS in older buildings, such as Singapore’s Sim Lim Square, which served as a pilot site.

“We are honoured to receive this award and have our energy management technology recognised on a regional stage” said Ampotech CEO and Co-Founder William Temple. “The track record we have established with Keppel in Singapore will serve us well as we continue to grow in Southeast Asia and contribute to the decarbonisation of the built environment.”

The ASEAN Energy Awards are Southeast Asia’s highest honour to encourage and recognise private sector participation in energy development of the ASEAN region in partnership with the public sector. The awards ceremony was held on 15 September 2022 in conjunction with the 40th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting and 2022 ASEAN Energy Business Forum.

Mr. Chua Yong Hwee, Director, Keppel DHCS, said, “Energy efficiency for cooling services has recently come to the fore of sustainable building management. We believe that KHCS, together with like-minded partners, is able to harness the recent digitalisation wave to enhance our service offerings. The award is an affirmation of our efforts to raise the bar and provide greater value to our cooling customers.”

The ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) selected the project – Smart Energy Management System to Measure Chiller Plant Power Consumptions using Advanced Data Analysis and Machine Learning, Reducing the Need for Installation of Sub-Meters – from a field of international submissions nominated by public sector agencies in the respective countries.
